\n\u2022 Located in a 100.000 square meters site in Curtis-Teixeiro\u2019s Industrial Park the Plant is the biggest in Galicia and one of the biggest in Spain and Europe.
\nGreenalia\u2019s Curtis-Teixeiro Biomass Plant, that started operating last March, will be able to process half a million biomass tons annually once it reaches peak performance. The Plant, located in a 103.000 square meters plot and with an installed capacity of 50 MW, started operating in March 2020 although it had to wait until the main disruptions generated by COVID-19 ceased to complete all necessary tests. Now the Plant is in final test phase, connected to the grid and it is expected to reach peak performance in a few weeks.
\nGalicia generates almost 10 million cubic meters of wood annually (2019 data) from over 100.000 forestry plantations. This is mainly eucalyptus and pine that generate over 2 million tons of forestry residue. Greenalia\u2019s Biomass Plant will be able to process 25% of all biomass from forestry residue generated in Galicia. We are talking about a very important figure that contributes to the cleaning and preservation of forests and galician hills by collecting and upgrading biomass that otherwise would remain in the ground contributing to fire and plague extension.
\nThe Plant as part of its 135 Million Euro investment includes dry refrigeration technology which drastically lowers water consumption. This state-of-the-art technology increased initial investment but reduces 90% water consumption.
\nThe biomass is sourced from woods located in a 100 km radius around the Plant and it is transported by an average of 80 daily trucks. These biomass packs are gathered by around 70 Greenalia local workers that contribute to the cleaning of the woods.
\nDuring the construction process 1.000 local direct and indirect jobs were generated by the project, 40 of these jobs remain as permanent in the operation of the plant and around 110 will remain operative in biomass sourcing.
