Greenalia obtains prior administrative authorization for the development of another 465.3 wind MWs in Spain

  • The company has achieved a new milestone in the permitting process of these 15 wind farms planned in different municipalities of Galicia in the Northwest of Spain
  • The production of these facilities will prevent the emission of 544,000 C02 tons into the atmosphere

Greenalia has obtained in the first half of 2023 the prior administrative authorizations for the development of 15 new wind farms located in Galicia (Spain). With this new step, the company continues to make progress in the implementation of new renewable energy facilities.

In this case, the facilities will have a total of 465.3 MW of installed capacity distributed among 15 wind farms. By provinces, 9 of them will be in the province of A Coruña (321.1 MW); 3 in Pontevedra (81.6 MW); Lugo (12.6 MW) and two in Ourense (50 MW).

The implementation of these facilities has an execution budget of 450 million euros, to which the contributions corresponding to the local councils through fees and taxes and the wind power levy, which will exceed 10 million euros, should be added. This economic impact will also boost the labour market, with a significant mobilization of local employment.

The expected annual production will be equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 414,000 households. At the same time, this production will prevent the annual emission of 544,000 CO2 tons into the atmosphere.

These parks previously passed the corresponding Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), as they were considered compatible and respectful of the environment and incorporated the different preventive and corrective measures that guarantee their adaptation to the environment.
