Greenalia will financially support Xiria Handball Club (Carballo, Galicia) for the development its summer and winter camps, activities in which over 200 families in the area can find an inclusive and integrating proposal for better work-life balance.
This is reflected in the agreement signed between Greenalia and the Xiria club, a document ratified by the director of the Greenalia Foundation for Energy Transition, Beatriz Mato, and the club’s vice-president, José Antonio Rodríguez. Greenalia reaffirms its commitment to social initiatives within its ESG strategy, a roadmap in which values such as fellowship, solidarity, responsibility, and tolerance are inherent, included in the action plan of this sports school.
For the director of the Foundation and CSO of Greenalia, Beatriz Mato, “these alliances represent an added value to our work in the community, as in addition to the positive impact – in mobilising employment and the economic impact of our projects – we add actions to promote sport, healthy habits and respect for the environment, through the financing of initiatives such as those planned by the Xiria Club“.
The activity plan will also have an environmental awareness component, especially aimed at two aspects: the reduction of the use of single-use plastics and other waste, as well as the need to protect and care for our environment. For this reason, water consumption will be prioritised through the fountains installed at the camp, reusable water bottles will be provided and ecology workshops will be held, which will be accompanied by the maintenance of a green garden in which the participating children will be able to learn and put into practice basic notions of horticultural care.
Greenalia thus continues to promote its social action programmes in those places where it has projects in planning or operation, a task that is channelled through the Greenalia Foundation through which direct collaboration agreements are established with Town Councils, entities, local organisations and sports clubs, as is the case of the Xiria Club. In 2022, these actions involved an investment of over 140,000 euros distributed among 11 entities.
