Greenalia strengthens its commitment to the areas where it operates and will sponsor the Burela futsal club this season

The renewable energy producer Greenalia, based in A Coruña, will sponsor the women’s Burela Futsal Club during the 22/23 season. A collaboration that will have an investment of 15,000 euros and that is part of the company’s sustainability strategy, as reflected in the signing ceremony today at the headquarters of the sports club in Burela (Lugo).

The agreement signed today between Manuel Blanco Fanego, president of the Burela Club, and the company’s Sustainability and Corporate Development Director, Beatriz Mato, is another step forward in Greenalia’s commitment to the intrinsic values of team sports. “It is an excellent opportunity to support a club like this, with a track record of reference in the defense of equality,” said Beatriz Mato.

In addition to sports values, Greenalia, explained Mato, shares with the club the 5 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are part of the strategy of this team: education, equality, fight against climate change, care for our forests and seas, and a healthy lifestyle.

For his part, the club’s president, Manuel Blanco, stressed that “this union demonstrates the visibility that our sport has, attracting companies from different sectors and of different sizes and as important as Greenalia”. “We are delighted that a reference company in Galicia and in other parts of the world is part of our project“. “We are looking forward to this path that we are starting together, and we hope it will be a fruitful relationship that will last for a long time“.

The support to local projects in those environments where it operates is an axis of Greenalia’s Sustainability Plan, a company that has a strong commitment with the local industry, as reflected with the agreement signed with Alcoa for the supply of green energy for its San Cibrao Plant and with the portfolio of projects in the pipeline, which will mean a significant investment in the coming years.

A long career in sports

With over 20 years of experience in the national futsal elite, and more than 12 years promoting and supporting women’s sports, the Burela Futsal Club has won 20 titles in the last four years. They have become a reference for minors from all over Spain and other European countries. It has been distinguished with the Castelao Medal, the highest honor that can be awarded to an entity or person in Galicia. It is a pioneer club in the development of an agreement for its players, who work daily to be the best exponents of the value of sport in society. A model for which it has been awarded as the best women’s club in the world in the last two editions of the Futsal Awards.
