Greenalia advances in its pipeline development in Spain and a new Wind Farm (WF) begins its public exhibition phase. Levante WF, of 106.4 MW will be installed in the municipalities of As Nogais, Becerreá and Triacastela (Lugo, Galicia, Spain).
The clean wind energy production will avoid the consumption of over 28,000 tons of oil, as well as the emission of more than 121,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, with the resulting environmental benefits. In this way, the equivalent of over 82,000 families can be supplied through renewable sources.
This 106,4 MW WF will have 19 wind turbines, with 127.5 meters hub height and 145 meters of rotor diameter. In total, this installation will mean a 77 million euros investment.
The selected project will not affect areas protected by the Galician Network of Protected Areas and the Natura 2000 Network. Likewise, the area included in the proposal for the Extension of the Natura 2000 Network and the areas included in the Galician Catalogue of Wetlands have also been excluded. Its location is also outside bird protection areas (IBAs).
The WF location has been set considering its compatibility with Cultural Heritage elements. The LAT evacuation crosses on one occasion the Way of Santiago (North-Interior route). However, in this section it has been decided to bury that part of the line, thus minimizing the possible impact.
In terms of avifauna, the appropriate studies have been carried out, not appearing in the area any specific migratory corridor, so it is not foreseen to affect in this regard.
The necessary measures will be carried out to minimize the risk of introduction of invasive species, including in the environmental monitoring and surveillance program the early detection of the possible presence of non-native species. Likewise, it is proposed to plant 24,000 m2 of hardwoods in an area to be agreed with the regional administration.
