Greenalia obtains prior administrative authorization for the development of another 410 solar MWp in Spain

  • The company is making progress in the commissioning of 9 photovoltaic plants in Andalusia.

In the first half of 2023, Greenalia has obtained prior administrative authorization for the construction of nine photovoltaic plants, with a total capacity of 410 MWp located in the provinces of Almeria, Seville and Jaen (Andalusia, Spain).

With this new milestone, the company continues to make progress, now in the final permitting phase, in the commissioning of new renewable energy facilities. These developments will require a 270 million euros investment, to which the corresponding contributions that will be made to the owners for leasing and to the local councils through fees and taxes should be added. An economic impact that will boost employment, with a significant local mobilisation of jobs.

The expected annual production will be equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 166,500 households. At the same time, it will prevent the emission of 120,500 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.

These parks previously passed the corresponding Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), as they were considered compatible and respectful of the environment and incorporated the different preventive and corrective measures that guarantee their adaptation to the environment.

European protected areas such as the Natura 2000 Network, Sites of Community Interest (SCI) or state and regional protected areas such as National Parks, Natural Parks, Protected Landscapes or Nature Reserves, among others, have been considered in the development of the project.  Likewise, the Environmental Impact Study includes a specific analysis of the possible effects that each project may have on wild fauna and flora, for the preservation of which the necessary measures have been established.

These photovoltaic parks have the urban development compatibility report provided by the local councils in which the generation facility is located, a fundamental pillar for the progress of the projects.
