Greenalia sells 182 MW renewable projects portfolio in Spain

  • With this sale, Greenalia begins the rotation of non-strategic assets in Spain
  • Includes projects with wind and photovoltaic capacity in Andalusia and Galicia

Greenalia has signed the sale of a 182 MW renewable projects portfolio to Engie in Spain, specifically in Andalusia and Galicia. The projects are in the development phase and are expected to come on stream in the coming years, with ENGIE in charge of their development, operation and maintenance.

Manuel García, CEO of Greenalia, said: “This transaction is part of the company’s asset rotation plan. The funds obtained from this transaction will be used to accelerate and consolidate the development of Greenalia’s business plan, a company in which we have a geographically and technologically diversified pipeline of more than 6GW of renewable projects“.

Loreto Ordóñez, CEO of ENGIE Spain, says: “Our goal is to drive and be a reference in the energy transition in Spain, and this new acquisition is certainly aligned with this purpose. It is a portfolio of quality projects that will contribute to achieving our ambitious goals in the country. It also strengthens ENGIE’s position in the renewables market in Galicia, a region with great renewable energy potential and which reinforces the geographic diversification of our portfolio.

About Greenalia

Greenalia is an independent energy producer using exclusively renewable technologies. The company uses only wind, sun and forest biomass, from the remains of certified plantations, to generate and store electricity in harmony with nature, providing employment and innovation in the areas where it operates (Europe and the United States). The company’s main activity is the generation and sale of electricity, being present in six technologies: onshore wind, offshore wind, solar photovoltaic, biomass, storage and hydrogen.

ENGIE is a global benchmark in low-carbon energy and services. With its 96,000 employees, customers, partners and stakeholders, the Group is committed to accelerating the transition to a carbon-neutral world through reduced energy consumption and more environmentally friendly solutions. Inspired by its purpose (“raison d’être”), ENGIE reconciles economic performance with a positive impact on people and the planet, building on its core businesses (gas, renewables, services) to offer competitive solutions to its customers. Turnover in 2022: 93.9 billion euros.

The Group is listed on the Paris and Brussels stock exchanges (ENGI) and is represented on the main financial (CAC 40, Euronext 100, FTSE euro 100, MSCI Europe) and non-financial indices (DJSI World, Euronext Vigeo Eiris – Europe 120 / France 20, MSCI EMU ESG screened, MSCI EUROPE ESG Universal Select, Stoxx Europe 600 ESG-X).

With a strong presence in Spain throughout the energy value chain and 1,800 employees in the country. ENGIE is the sixth largest generator in the country with an installed capacity of around 3,600 MW, including 1,600 MW of renewable assets (wind, solar and mini-hydro), cogeneration and heat and cold networks, and flexible, low-carbon generation (combined cycle). Together with its customers, ENGIE develops and manages more than 250 MW of assets that make the energy transition a reality (heating and cooling grids, industrial photovoltaic or solar thermal self-consumption plants, biomass boilers and cogeneration plants). In addition, the company also works in energy trading, and is a reference agent in the structuring and implementation of long-term renewable energy purchase and sale contracts (PPAs) and in the conception, design, commissioning and operation of industrial solutions to help its customers consume less and better energy.
